ABOUT DORISS

"I am honored to represent where I live & serve in the community that I call HOME"

Doriss Lopez Panduro was born and raised in Fairfield, CA. She is the eldest of four and the first in her family to go to a four-year university. Doriss attended Solano Community College, then transferred to the University of Southern California, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. She also has a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of San Francisco.

Inspired by the late Matt Garcia in 2008, the youngest member of the Fairfield City Council and a victim of gun violence, Doriss found her calling to public service. Since then, she has surrounded herself, worked, and become involved with various community-based organizations, non-profits, and grassroots advocacy to give back and be of service to the city that raised her by taking on the following roles over the years before running for office for the first time in 2018:

  • APAPA-Solano County Chapter, Board Member

  • Solano Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Board Member & past President

  • Solano Commission for Women and Girls, a past commissioner

  • Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club, Board Member

  • Voces Unidas de Solano, Board Member

  • Puente program at Solano Community College, Mentor

Doriss has been employed in various public relations roles where she has had the opportunity to connect individuals to resources locally and at the state level. Including working for three state legislators in their district offices and the State Capitol in Sacramento. Her most current employer is CASA of Solano County, where she is the Outreach Coordinator. There she recruits adult volunteers who walk alongside a youth as they navigate the foster care system. She helps to ensure that every child referred to the program has a consistent caring adult who advocates for them both in the courthouse and in the community.

In staying true to her path, Doriss ran and won a seat on the Fairfield City Council to represent District 5 in November 2020 and is currently running for re-election to continue working on projects she championed for and to be a much needed voice and perspective in City Hall.

Doriss enjoys spending time with her two nephews and many of her cousins who reside in Solano County.

PRIORITIES

Let's Keep Moving Fairfield Forward

 HOMELESSNESS

  • Homelessness is a top priority for the city and for Doriss. She is committed to working hard to ensure the city is doing all it can to address and find solutions to this pressing issue that impacts residents and businesses on various levels.

  • Doriss serves and is the current Chair of the regional 2x2 homeless committee (also known as the CAP Solano JPA), which brings all seven municipalities across Solano County together for a coordinated response while providing wraparound services and mental health/substance abuse treatment for those experiencing long-term homelessness.

 AFFORDABLE HOUSING

  • Doriss has approved new affordable housing in our community, including 51 units of permanent supportive housing that are scheduled to be completed in 2027. This places 50 individuals in a home and off the street.

  • She will continue to support more of the housing working-class families, veterans, and seniors need in the years ahead. Workforce housing is another type of housing that she is supportive of and has advocated for.

 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

  • Doriss has created relationships with several of the businesses along the N. Texas corridor and has assisted in elevating their concerns as business owners to ensure they continue to thrive and be successful.

  • Doriss championed a grant revitalization program for the N. Texas corridor so business owners could have assistance in enhancing their storefronts, addressing lighting issues, and improving their landscapes.

 CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES

  • Doriss was a part of the initial conversations for the new First 5 Center at the new Robbieburr Berger Rec and Community Center. This center will be a part of a new, state-of-the-art community center with sport courts for all residents to enjoy.

  • Doriss also understands the value of our parks and the importance of finding ways to attract more families, events, and increased use of them. She will continue supporting and advancing programs that benefit Fairfield’s children and families.

 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
AND REPRESENTATION

Doriss recognizes the rich diversity of District 5, and, as a lifelong resident and Spanish-speaking Councilmember, continues working towards engaging residents of all backgrounds and walks of life to keep them informed about key community issues. Equitable and fair access to all city resources and information is vital to ensuring all residents feel seen and heard.
